The Highland Cabins of Beaverdell are a comfortable cluster of five unique cabins situated conveniently adjacent to Highway 33 and just 2 blocks from the Kettle Valley Rail Trail access.

Beaverdell, once one of British Colombia’s busiest mining centres, now has a nostalgic ambience.  It takes a day or an evening here, talking to the locals to reveal it’s character and is like stepping back in time as the stories unfold. Silver was discovered here in 1897 on Wallace Mountain and the Highland Bell Silver Mine was one of the longest continuously operating mines in BC for 75 years from 1913 to 1989.

Over this time it produced over 50 million tons of silver along with gold, zinc and copper.

Each of the Highland Cabins of Beaverdell has it’s own story – some are nearer their original locations than others, but all go back to the 1950’s or further when production was still busy at a number of mines in the area.

As production in the mines slowed, a forward thinking entrepreneur gathered up the cabins and created the property as it is today – offering accommodation to railway tourists and driving tours.

Today, Ellis O’Brien is your host at Highland Cabins and endeavours to ensure you are comfortable and have all the information you need for cycling or exploring along the historic Kettle Valley Rail Trail.

All cabins are simple yet comfortable with linens provided, kitchens for self-catering and all with outdoor gas BBQ’s.
